The technical team that drives Zenith Energy have been working together for many years – long before Zenith was formed, in fact – and are arguably the most experienced group of their kind in the industry.
To date they have designed and built remote generation plants with a total capacity well in excess of 500MW.
A feature of Zenith’s design work is the company’s flexibility of approach.
This is typified by the inclusion of a 7MW solar generator as part of the 27MW power plant at the Independence Group’s Nova nickel mine in Western Australia. This innovative use of renewable energy will reduce fossil fuel consumption at the plant by over 3,000,000 litres a year.
Importantly, this is the first solar hybrid plant on an Australian mine to be primarily funded on a commercial basis. In achieving this, Zenith have paved the way for the wider use of solar hybrid power generation in the mining sector, offering clients major financial and environmental benefits.
Zenith’s unique expertise in creating and operating hybrid fuel generation systems is well illustrated At Chevron Australia’s Barrow Island operation. The Zenith owned and operated plant at Barrow Island uses an unusual but highly cost-efficient hybrid of gas turbine and reciprocating gen sets that provide economical baseload energy coupled with the flexibility to handle peak load fluctuations.
